Extra Care Registration

WAIT LIST NOTICE

We regret to inform you that we are currently at our Capacity for Before and After School Care at THIS LOCATION and all new registrations will be placed on a wait list. We strongly suggest you still register to keep your place in line, but you will need to make alternate plans for care as we cannot predict when an opening will occur. Usually, once after-school programs (sports & clubs) begin, there is some movement in availability. You do not have to pay your registration fee until a space can be made available. Once an opening occurs you will receive an invoice for the registration fee and it must be paid to complete the process.
Drop-In Clients that are already registered will also need to make alternate plans until more space becomes available for after school care.

OUR TEAM AT GRAND RIVER ACADEMY

We expect our Specialists to develop relationships with their students and their families, to promote a safe and nurturing environment and to foster a supportive partnership with the parents or guardians in the role of caring for each student.
Site Leader

Heather White

Mrs. Heather started with M&M as an Enrichment Specialist in 2015, in 2nd grade class. She was assistant Site Leader in 2016 and then became the Site Leader in 2017. She returned to school in 2018 to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education thanks to all the support of her husband Terry. She absolutely loves her job and being able to work with all the different children. She has worked with children for over 20 years and feels that she has brought new experiences to GRA. She is super excited for the new school year and can’t wait to see what this year should bring and what is to come! “What we learn becomes a part of who we are.”—Kathy R. Jeffords

Enrichment Specialist

Terri Wells

Ms. Terri is new to M&M! She has worked in the health care field for over 20 years. In her free time, she loves to travel, enjoys a nice crossword puzzle, and a great cup of coffee. She enjoys working with children, and caring for their health and well-being.

K-1st Grade Specialist

Cynthia Sandusky

Mrs. Cynthia was born and raised in California and has been with M&M since 2017. She has experience working with infants and school-age kids. She had the opportunity of working with military families and the USAF for 5 years. She also worked with the after-school program here in Michigan. She is a proud parent of two boys, EJ and Eli. On the weekends, she loves to spend time with her family, explore new places, and likes to travel. She loves working with kids and believes there is always something to learn from them. She likes to be there for them, listening, and encouraging them. She believes that we can make a difference in their lives, and wants to be a part of that experience.

enrichment specialist

Darlene ROss

Ms. Darlene is new to M&M Extra Care, but not to kids! She is a native Detroiter and has served with the Girl Scouts of America in a few different assignments; as a lead coordinator and kitchen cook/server. She was with the Girl Scouts camps for four years and also taught bible study to children in her church. Her goal is to help them believe in themselves and know that they can achieve great things. She is glad to be part of the M&M Extra Care team!

volunteer

Terry White

Mr. Heather loves being around children. If he can make them smile, then he did his job right. He thinks it is important to teach them responsibilities to becoming young adults. You will see him answering the door as well as assisting in some of our after-care rooms as it is needed. “No child should be left behind, only the bad choices should”.

enrichment specialist

Ms. Chantel

Ms. Chantel is attending Schoolcraft College for her Associate’s degree in Graphic Design. She recently became a member of the Phi Theta Honors Society at the college. She considers herself a big nerd and loves to read and write. In her spare time, she enjoys learning Japanese and watching manga. She loves working with children and helping them grow into responsible and caring civilians that will one day contribute to our society.

Operations Manager

Tara Ball

Ms. Tara has been with M & M since 2009 and also began as an Enrichment Specialist. But with Tara’s extensive experience and expertise in School-Age programming, it was clear her role was to include so much more. Tara is instrumental in providing high quality care at M&M. Tara is a valuable coach and leader to all Specialists, Site Leaders and even the Administrative Team. Tara will often step into a classroom to cover a shift, to help train a new specialist, or even just because she LOVES working with the kids! Tara’s greatest love—planning and working summer camp!
